On our final stay in Madrid, we drove out to the medieval Spanish town of Ávila. I cannot even begin to imagine living within those walls back in the day. Astonishing that they were able to build walls so high back then.
Check it out.
After a much needed siesta, we headed back out to see some more sights in Madrid. We visited el Parque de Madrid por La Puerta España. Such beautiful gardens, a lake and the Palacio de Cristal (Crystal Palace). That has to be my best shot of the trip so far. Magical and amazing.
Finally we ended up at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía which housed Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece Guernica with the Pity and Terror, Picasso’s Path to Guernica
exhibition. Stunning! If you are ever in Madrid, this is a must see. I was also allowed to photo some great paintings of Salvador Dali.
After a lazy morning recouping from our fabulous time in England with Jeremy, Alice and the kids, we ventured out into Madrid. Lots to see at the Museo Del Prado with a stunning exhibit of Goya artwork, a temporary Greek exhibit of beautiful marble statues, some as old as 10 BC and Tesoros de la Hispanic Society of America.
